What does it mean when my domain is locked or unlocked?

Domain locking is a free security enhancement offered by Reg.am to prevent unauthorized transfers of your domain to another registrar. When your domain is locked, you'll be substantially protected from unauthorized third parties who might try to misdirect the transfer of your domain without your permission.

When your domain is unlocked, you and third parties may be able to initiate a registrar transfer for your domain. We recommend turning locking off only in the event that you need to make changes to your domain. If you want to unlock your domain go to client area, choose your domain and set the lock option off.
